There are a lot of different formats you can use to save your image. But for the web, you’ll only need two. These types are .GIF and .JPG Both have been created to allow for the best clarity and smallest file size.

You’ll save your image as a GIF if the image is a logo, text or other “non-photo” image.

You’ll save your image as a JPG if the image is a photo or has a lot of detail.

Here’s are the steps to save your image.

1. Click File>Export Optimizer
2. Choose a graphic type either JPG or GIF (click the drop down box “up” to select GIF if you can’t see GIF as a choice)

3. Adjust the “Quality” Bar - As you move the bar you’ll see the quality of the image change. For most photos, setting the bar at the third level (see below) is best. Putting your slider at 100% will cause your image to be large and is somewhat “overkill.”
4. Click “Export” and save your image.
5. Your image is now ready to go on the web!

6. Select either 32, 64 or 128 for the number of colors. You will be able to see the quality of each choice. Choose the one that looks best
7. Make sure “Optimized” is selected in the Palette section
8. Make sure “Error diffusion” is selected in the Dithering section
9. Leave both check boxes in the GIF Options section empty
10. Click “Export”
11. Your image is ready for the web!
